One of the most important aspects for the automotive industry is, undoubtedly, ensuring the quality of the product throughout the manufacturing process. During the initial production stage of a vehicle, the raw materials to produce the bodywork arrive in the form of pre-lubricated sheet rolls, or are lubricated prior to being cut to start the stamping process. The amount of lubricant must be known at all times since if the sheet has little lubricant it may fracture or crack, which will cause it a bad finish once painted. On the contrary, if it has too much lubricant, it is probable that it will have dents or the welding points will subsequently be unable to join the parts. In addition to this, having excess lubricant may cause an excess expense, as it is wasted.

For the above reasons, Infralytic manufactured the NG2 sensor, which measures the amount of oil or lubricant on the sheets prior to stamping by using a robust technology of infrared spectroscopy. This sensor can measure the oil film between 0.1 and 6 〖g/m〗^2, with a specific software that allows handling the data from a computer and an application for quick data collection from a mobile phone.
